I’m happy that I can announce today the probably biggest success of my work of the last years, fighting the use of traditional cooking stoves.
The last months I went through an intensive selection and application process to receive a grant from the belgian development service ENABEL (former BTC) in the context of their “SDF – Skills Development Fund Rwenzori Albertine”.
My organization “EnergySavingStoves” in cooperation with the german association “Rwenzori e.V”, and the vocational school “HolyDove Vocational school Kinyamaseke” (where we build the first of my school cantines and catering schools of uganda) in cooperation with USSIA (UgandaSmallScaleIndustryAssociation), applied for that fund in order to start the first “EnergySavingStoves and Development Skills Center” of Uganda.
THIS WEEK WE FINNALY RECEIVED CONFIRMATION THAT WE WILL GET THAT MONEY AND THAT WE CAN START OUR TRAINING CENTER.
We are planning to train local women groups, youth and members of other NGOs from all over east africaa, and start a new profession in clay stove fitting on the Ugandan labour market. We will certify this profession with the DIT (Directorate of industrial training) and create jobs in this way. Within the support of Enabel we will start training 100 participants until april 2019.
There is a lot to do within the next year, but it is a big step towards our target to provide a stove to every household in East africa.

Hello Florian Knaus,
We have just been to Kasese and talked with the Holy Dove college. We are undertaking an assessment of the scope for skills development for “green jobs”, for Enabel.
Congratulations with your training, it was highly appreciated.
We have some further questions about the implementation, esp. how trainees would promote, sell or build more stove in their communities.
Can we do telephone call or a short meeting in Kampala?
Thanks, I am Kees, based in Geneva, working with Sam Bbosa, based in Kampala
